What is Sculptra?
Meet Sculptra. One of our favorite fillers for its ability to help with the production of collagen. a Sculptra is composed of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and is commonly used for restoring volume that we lose as we age. Sculptra helps correct wrinkles, folds, scars, degenerative skin aging, and facial lipoatrophy (loss of fat tissue).
Did you know that after we turn 20, collagen production decreases, causing our skin to be saggy, dryer, thinner, thus causing wrinkles to form?
How does it work?
Sculptra is injected into the targeted area (face, chin, jaw, and yes, even the buttocks for treatment of cellulite) to help restore volume and improve skin texture.
What is Sculptra Glow?
The Sculptra Glow. Oh, how we love it…. is a common side effect as it is know for giving your face and neck a refreshed/ glowy look!
How much do I need?
I always start with 1 vile per side of the face, wait 8 weeks, and repeat. Initially there will be swelling (which you will love, trust me) but expect that to go down within a couple of weeks.
The buttocks area typically needs a bit more at 5 vials per side. We will do 2 treatments, 8 weeks apart.
When will I see results?
Something to keep in mind is that Sculptra is not instantaneous and will take at least two sessions to achieve your full desired results. In addition, it will take about 4-6 weeks for your body to adjust and begin to produce collagen. Patience is key!
Pre-treatment
- Come to the appointment at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time with a clean and smiley face. (No makeup or moisturizer today guys!)
- Topical anesthetic medication
- You may experience a mild amount of tenderness or stinging during and following injection.
- Redness and swelling are normal! But remember, its all part of the process.
Post Treatment (also known as 5-5-5)
Massage the treated area 5 times a day for 5 minutes x 5 days. The 5-5-5 post treatment is so important as it prevents lumps and bumps from forming and helps to spread the product evenly.
