PRP / PRF in
Silver Spring, MD

When it comes to renewal and rejuvenation, injections with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) have become top trends in the aesthetic industry. These are components of your own blood that are quite powerful and have been previously used only for medicinal purposes.

On their own, they can accomplish quite a bit, but when combined with other skincare services such as microneedling, they can do even more. Are you interested to learn more about PRP / PRF and what they can do? If so, this quick guide is for you.

Uses/Benefits:

  • Tissue regeneration and rejuvenation
  • Stimulation of collagen production
  • Hair growth
  • Diminished appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduced appearance of scars, even deep scarring
  • Cellulite reduction
  • Stretch mark reduction

Chavi provides a cheerful, careful, and restrained approach to botox and filler application, resulting in a youthful and more natural look.

What Exactly Are PRP and PRF Injections?

Both platelet-rich plasma and platelet-rich fibrin contain important growth factors that help your tissues heal. To obtain PRP and PRF for any treatment, your blood must be drawn. This is done the same way it is in your doctor’s office. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets.

PRF has even more platelets than PRP, and its release of growth factors is slower, allowing prolonged effects. This means the therapeutic effect of PRF is greater, though both are highly beneficial.

What Are the Benefits of PRF and PRP Injections?

Both provide many benefits:

  • Tissue regeneration and rejuvenation
  • Stimulation of collagen production
  • Hair growth
  • Diminished appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduced appearance of scars, even deep scarring
  • Cellulite reduction
  • Stretch mark reduction

Plus so much more, especially when combined with microneedling! No matter your concern, speak to your provider about treatment with PRP or PRF.

How Do PRP and PRF Help With Skin Rejuvenation?

As you age, your body decreases its production of collagen and elastin, both of which are needed for healthy, supple skin. PRP / PRF jump-starts your body’s production of these essential proteins and invigorates cell renewal for healthier, smoother skin.

These treatments are often referred to as natural rejuvenation because the healing factors come from your own blood.

How Do PRF and PRP for Hair Growth Work?

PRP and PRF work at a follicular level by stimulating cells inside your hair follicles. Once treatment takes effect, platelet cells promote the healing of tissues, regeneration, and new hair growth.

What Happens During a PRP or PRF Injection Appointment?

Once your blood has been drawn and spun through a centrifuge, a syringe will be prepared for treatment. Then, injections are given in the area to be treated.

A single procedure can take between 60 to 90 minutes or longer, especially if you are combining PRP / PRF with additional therapies. Anesthesia is not required, but a topical numbing cream will be applied to minimize discomfort.

Is Downtime Needed for PRP / PRF Recovery?

Common side effects of injections are bruising, swelling, and redness, but these typically go away on their within a few days and are often from the needle piercing the skin and not the injectable. You can use a cold compress to ease side effects you experience.

While no recovery time is necessary, many patients choose to schedule their appointment on a day they can rest.

Will I Need More Than One Injection Appointment?

This depends on your goals. As a general rule of thumb, a series of three to six treatments scheduled four to six weeks apart is recommended.

Because results continue to improve for months after you complete your PRP / PRF treatment plan, maintenance appointments are typically scheduled once per year.

Am I a Good Candidate for PRP / PRF?

Because PRP and PRF come from your own blood, there is little risk of adverse reactions. While it is safe for all skin tones and types, it’s not recommended for everyone.

Patients with certain types of cancers and other health conditions such as blood disorders do not typically qualify. If this is you, discuss alternative options with your provider.

As long as you are generally healthy, over the age of 21, and have the desire to achieve gradual and desirable results, you’re likely a good candidate. The easiest way to find out if this is right for you is to schedule a consultation with a reputable provider.

Can I Safely Combine PRP / PRF With Other Skin or Hair Treatments?

Yes, you can. It’s always great when you can combine treatments to enhance results, isn’t it? Dermal filler and microneedling are great options if you are wishing to eliminate unwanted signs of aging as well as other skin concerns.

If you are getting PRP / PRF for hair loss, ask about vitamins and scalp treatments to maximize your results.

How Much Does It Cost?

It’s impossible to give you an exact cost without a consultation. However, PRP / PRF costs between $500 to 1500 on average when not used in conjunction with other treatments.

What Does Morpheus8 Feel Like?

Morpheus8 uses microneedles to create a controlled injury to the skin, and while it may sound painful it’s typically not. Most patients find this treatment tolerable. If you are concerned about pain, please speak to your provider about the application of a topical anesthetic beforehand to numb the area.

What Is Recovery Like After Morpheus8?

Because the treatment creates small, fresh wounds on your skin, you should avoid any activity that might increase your risk of infection. This includes swimming, exercising, and all strenuous activities.

During your brief recovery period, it’s important you hydrate your body and skin. Increasing hydration enhances your body’s natural healing process. Proper nutrition, drinking plenty of water, and using skincare products as recommended by your provider will make your transition to beautiful, healthy skin much more rewarding.

When Will I See Morpheus8 Results?

Results from Morpheus8 are not immediately noticeable. Your body needs time to time to produce collagen and elastin.

After a few days, you’ll start to notice a change in your skin. During the next few weeks, you will continue to see improvements. The most dramatic results can be seen around the three-month mark.

How Many Times Do I Need Morpheus8, and How Many Treatments Are Needed for Sensational Results?

The number of sessions you’ll need depends on your specific skincare goals. Some patients see significant results after only one session of Morpheus8, while others find they need two or three treatments to achieve optimal results.

How Long Do Morpheus8 Results Last?

Everyone is different, and the duration of results can vary. However, many patients enjoy the anti-aging, skin-tightening results of Morpheus8 for up to one year.

How Long Does Morpheus8 Take?

Depending on the size of the area to be treated, Morpheus8 can take anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour. If a topical anesthetic is applied to your skin, it can take up to 45 minutes to take full effect, so this adds to your session time.

Are There Side Effects Associated With Morpheus8?

As with most skin rejuvenation treatments, some side effects are to be expected. After Morpheus8, you may experience mild redness and swelling. Your skin might also feel tight and tender. These are normal, temporary side effects that usually dissipate within a couple of days.

Am I a Good Candidate for Morpheus8?

Patients with severe sagging or deep wrinkles may not be suitable for Morpheus8. Instead, the possibility of a surgical option should be discussed with your provider. As long as you are generally healthy, you are likely a good candidate

Morpheus8 is intended to correct mild sagging, jowls, and mild to moderate wrinkles. You will work with your provider to be sure Morpheus8 is the right course of action for your unique needs.
